Yes! Kids (and beginners of any age) CAN do oil painting!
Instructor Johanna Girard (BFA, Art Center College of Design) has over 20 years experience teaching beginning students as young as age 7 , up to adults!  No prior drawing experience is necessary for this class.

Beginners will learn all the basic drawing skills and how to apply them to build a solid foundation for creating paintings. You'll learn color theory, color mixing, blending and layering techniques.
As students gain more confidence in handling paint, they are encouraged to design and create their own unique imaginative compositions, and are free to explore different artistic styles. 

Girard Art Studio Location and Hours

Lessons are held in the artist's private home studio, located in Northeast Pasadena, near the foothills of Altadena.   The studio is the chalet style apartment above  the garage at the back of the property.  It's a cute and cozy space with lots of windows, and plenty of natural light for painting.  And for added inspiration, there's a beautiful treetop view of Mt. Wilson from the studio's balcony.  

Pricing

  • PRIVATE Lessons  (Guaranteed One-on-One Instruction)
    $100 per one 2-hour lesson, pay as you go.
     Monthly Discount:  25% off for set of 4 lessons paid in advance.   
     
  • Semi-Private Lessons: (limited to two students at a time) 
    A friend or family member can share the lesson  time and  split the above price.  
The above prices include a $5 per lesson fee to cover the cost of art supplies.  If you bring your own oil painting supplies, paints, brushes and canvases, I will deduct $5 off per lesson.

And I have chosen safe, non-toxic colors, safe for kids to use! Very Important!
